Summary

Maths Teacher - Alternative Provision (KS3/KS4)

Location: Macclesfield, Cheshire
Salary: MPS/UPS (dependent on experience)
Contract Type: Full-time, Temporary (with potential to become permanent)

Hays Education are working in partnership with a high-performing alternative provision academy in Macclesfield to recruit a dedicated and enthusiastic Maths Teacher. This is a full-time role starting in September 2025, initially on a temporary basis, with the potential to become permanent for the right candidate.

This innovative and inclusive school provides education for students aged 13-16 who have been excluded or are at risk of exclusion from mainstream settings. Many pupils have SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) needs, and the school offers a trauma-informed, restorative approach to learning and behaviour. Key features include:

About the Role

  • Deliver engaging and differentiated Maths lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, including GCSE Maths.
  • Support students with a range of additional needs, including low prior attainment, anxiety, and behavioural challenges.
  • Use creative and flexible teaching strategies to re-engage learners and close gaps in knowledge.
  • Work collaboratively with pastoral staff, SEN specialists, and external agencies.
  • Contribute to a positive, safe, and inclusive learning environment.

What You'll Need to Succeed

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS) and experience teaching Maths at secondary level.
  • A strong understanding of SEMH, trauma-informed practice, and inclusive teaching methods.
  • Excellent classroom management and the ability to build trusting relationships with vulnerable learners.
  • A flexible, resilient, and compassionate approach to education.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all students.
