Your new company
Hays is currently working alongside an organisation dedicated to supporting individuals leaving prison who would otherwise be at risk of homelessness. This is a truly rewarding opportunity to make a real difference by working closely with people on probation-helping them secure and sustain temporary accommodation while guiding them towards independent living. Join a passionate, supportive team committed to meaningful change and experience a workplace where your efforts directly impact lives for the better.
Your new role
As a Housing Officer, you will manage a caseload of clients across multiple properties, providing person-centred support and ensuring accommodation is safe, secure, and well-maintained. Key responsibilities include:
- Induct new clients and set clear expectations.
- Support clients with benefits, budgeting, and tenancy responsibilities.
- Conduct weekly property visits and health & safety checks.
- Collaborate with the Property Manager and external agencies.
- Maintain accurate records and contribute to service improvements.
- Participate in an out-of-hours on-call rota (1 week in 4).
Location: Somerset preferred (travel across Bath, North Somerset & Somerset)
Hourly Rate: £16.50 p/h (inclusive of holiday)
Hours: 37.5 per week | Monday - Friday
What you'll need to succeed
To succeed in this role, you'll need experience in supported housing, ideally working with people on probation. You should be confident working independently and skilled at managing challenging behaviours. Strong organisational and communication abilities are essential, along with a willingness to work flexibly, including some evenings up to 8pm. A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle are also required, as this role involves significant travel across the region. Candidates must be comfortable with this travel commitment.
What you'll get in return
In return, you will receive a competitive hourly rate and the opportunity for an immediate start. Beyond the practical benefits, this role offers the chance to make a meaningful and lasting impact in the community by helping individuals rebuild their lives after prison and avoid homelessness. You'll also be part of a supportive team environment that values collaboration, growth, and the shared commitment to creating positive change.
