Summary

Technician in Art & Design

ROLE DESCRIPTION

Lewisham College is one of the biggest colleges in London and now is a very exciting time to join us. We are now recruiting for an experienced Technician to join our Art & Design team.

Working within a dynamic team you will support the teaching of a range of UAL Art & Design qualifications at levels 1, 2 and 3 to young learners, and new entrants to the Creative industry.

In this role you will assist the supervision of students' learning activities within a studio / workshop environment. You will have the ability to demonstrate to students the safe use of equipment and machinery and techniques and practical skills.

As a technician, you will engage in course planning, delivery, and administration, be able to work within a team and meet expected deadlines.

You will prepare materials and equipment to meet learner and industry requirements and will be responsible for monitoring stock levels and the care and maintenance of the studios and their machinery.

We are looking for candidates with experience of using, setting up and demonstrating any / all the following: screen-printing, darkroom, painting, drawing, construction tools, video editing programmes and software, digital cameras, projector, projection software. You should also have some expertise in working with digital images using the Adobe Creative Suite.

You will support the exhibition and promotion of learner work in both internal and external exhibitions and events. An awareness of relevant Health & Safety regulations coupled with good communication and ICT skills are important aspects of this role. The opportunity to arrange and participate in exciting and relevant student field trips will also form part of your remit.

Candidates will be expected to have appropriate vocational expertise. We are seeking good humoured, positive individuals, with strong communication and organisational skills to help develop a thriving training facility.
