Make a Difference in a Specialist Primary PRU Setting - Hays Education are working in partnership with a highly regarded Primary Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Salford to recruit a passionate and experienced Level 3 SEN Teaching Assistant. This is a rewarding opportunity to support children with complex needs in a nurturing and inclusive environment.


About the School

This specialist PRU caters to primary-aged pupils (4-11) who have been excluded or are at risk of exclusion from mainstream schools. Many pupils have SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) needs, and some have EHCPs. The school provides both short-term intervention placements and longer-term support, depending on individual needs. Key features include:

About the Job

  • Support pupils with SEMH and additional needs in class, in small groups, and 1:1.
  • Help deliver engaging, differentiated lessons that meet individual learning plans.
  • Use de-escalation strategies and positive behaviour support techniques.
  • Work closely with teachers, therapists, and external agencies.
  • Contribute to a safe, structured, and supportive learning environment.

What You'll Need to Succeed

  • A Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent).
  • Experience supporting children with SEMH, autism, ADHD, or behavioural needs.
  • A calm, patient, and empathetic approach to challenging behaviour.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and inclusive practice.
