Bakers Way respite service in Bridgend provides short-term respite care for children and young people with disabilities/complex health needs from birth to 18 years old.

At Harwood House we support up to three young children/young people (mixed gender) within the age range of 8-19yrs with complex needs, which include a learning disability or a
disability diagnoses such as Autism.
Within your role you will assist children and young people in achieving their personal outcomes by meeting each child/young person’s emotional, social, behavioural, health and developmental needs during their placement, in a way that ensures their dignity and promotes independence.

We are seeking a caring and enthusiastic Residential Care Worker, who will put our children and young people at the centre of everything they do.

In this very important and rewarding role, you will provide all aspects of care, on an individual and group basis, including preparing young people for independence.

As a residential worker, in our care support team, you will be involved in helping to implement individual care plans, and undertake household duties, as well as some individual tasks and social support in order to enable the children and young people in our care to flourish and develop more independently.

We are seeking a team player, who can demonstrate a commitment to and experience of working with young people. You should also be able to relate well to children and their families as well as other professionals in the field.

Ideally, you will hold a relevant qualification NVQ/QCF Level 3 qualification or equivalent, set out by the Social Care Wales. Or have the willingness to complete the qualification though the role.

Our young people are cared for on a 24-hour basis. As the post is residential based, you will be required to work weekdays, and weekends. There is the expectancy to work either morning, afternoon, and some sleep-ins to support this.

There will be a 10 minute written exercise and a 30 minute interview process.

The ability to greet customers through the medium of Welsh is a requirement for this post.

Protecting children, young people or adults at risk is a core responsibility of all council employees.

Criminal records check by the Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) is a requirement for this post.

Weekend Working are a requirement of this post.
