Summary


Are you an experienced and motivated pharmacy technician looking to step into a leadership role in a specialist area? University Hospitals Dorset (UHD) is seeking a passionate Lead Pharmacy Technician to join our dynamic team supporting women’s and children’s services, including maternity, paediatrics, and neonatal care.

What we're looking for:
• GPhC registered Pharmacy Technician with post-qualification experience in hospital pharmacy
• Proven leadership or supervisory experience, ideally within clinical or ward-based settings
• Strong understanding of paediatric and maternity medicines management (desirable but not essential – training will be provided)
• Excellent communication, organisation, and decision-making skills
• A commitment to delivering compassionate, inclusive, and high-quality care





As the Lead Pharmacy Technician for Women and Children, you’ll play a pivotal role in delivering and improving safe, effective, and patient-focused medicine optimisation within our specialist services. You'll work closely with clinical pharmacists, nursing teams, and multidisciplinary colleagues to enhance patient care and outcomes across our sites.

Key Responsibilities:
• Provide expert technical support and leadership within maternity, paediatrics, and neonatology wards
• Lead on medicines optimisation initiatives and safety audits within the directorate
• Supervise, mentor, and develop trainee pharmacists and technicians
• Champion service improvement and support implementation of electronic prescribing and administration systems
• Ensure compliance with governance, policy, and legislative frameworks
