Summary
Health Care Support Worker – Inpatient Unit (IPU) & Community
Location: Colchester
Contract: Permanent
Are you a caring, reliable individual with a passion for supporting people at the end of life? We are looking for a dedicated Health Care Support Worker (HCS) to join our compassionate team in Colchester, providing exceptional care within our Inpatient Unit (IPU) and in the community on an ad-hoc basis.
This role offers flexible shifts, including nights, weekdays, and weekends, and is a vital part of delivering hands-on, person-centred care to those living with complex palliative needs.
What You’ll Do:
•
Provide high-quality personal care and support to patients in the IPU and their own homes
•
Assist with mobility, hygiene, nutrition, and comfort
•
Work under the guidance of registered nurses and other clinical staff
•
Offer emotional support to patients and their families during difficult times
•
Maintain dignity, privacy, and respect in every aspect of care
About You:
•
Previous experience in palliative care, end-of-life care, or a healthcare support role
•
Confident in delivering compassionate care to people with complex needs
•
A car driver with access to your own vehicle (essential for community visits)
•
Able to work flexibly across shifts, including nights and weekends, on an ad-hoc basis
•
Kind, empathetic, and emotionally resilient with a genuine commitment to making a difference
•
Strong communication skills and a team-player attitude
