Summary


Thispost isbased at Furness General Hospital.The assignment of specific clinical responsibilities will be agreed with the post holder on appointment.  A tentative job plan will be discussed and can be adjusted to suit the service needs and the interests of the new post holder.  





In conjunction with Consultant, Senior colleagues, andresident and locally employedcolleagues, to provide a servicewithresponsibility for in-patients, to take part in medical audit and research asappropriate.

To ensure there areadequate arrangements for hospital staff involved in the care of your patients to be able to contact you when necessary.


Maintainand develop their clinical skills. Individual training and developmental needs will beidentifiedthrough an appraisal process considering Royal Collegerequirements.


To take an active role in service development andto play a full part in developing & implementing new ways of working in line with modernisation principles that are fit for the future. To take responsibility for the best use of departmental staffing and other resources to ensure the maximum efficiency of the department.



9.To work within the Trust’s clinical risk management policies andin particular toparticipateasappropriate inclinical incident reporting and toobservethe Trust’s agreed policies and procedures and to follow the Trust’s Standing Orders and Standing Financial Instructions.





We operate from three main hospitals-Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.

FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.

WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.

All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.
1. In conjunction with Consultant, Senior colleagues, andresident and locally employedcolleagues, to provide a servicewithresponsibility for in-patients.


2.To provide cover forresident and locally employedcolleagues in respect of periods of leave.


3.In conjunction with Consultant, Senior colleagues, andresident and locally employedcolleagues, to take part in medical audit and research asappropriate.

6.In conjunction with the Divisional Senior Team, to take an active role in service development.


7.In conjunction with the Divisional Director, Consultant, Senior colleagues, andresident locally employedcolleagues to play a full part in developing & implementing new ways of working in line with modernisation principles that are fit for the future.


8.In conjunction with Consultant, Senior colleagues, andresident and locally employed colleagues, to take responsibility for the best use of departmental staffing and other resources to ensure the maximum efficiency of the department.



9.To work within the Trust’s clinical risk management policies andin particular toparticipateasappropriate inclinical incident reporting.


10.Toobservethe Trust’s agreed policies and procedures and to follow the Trust’s Standing Orders and Standing Financial Instructions. These policies and procedures have been drawn up in consultation with the profession on clinical matters.
