Summary
Capital of Cycling is looking for a part-time Community Cycling Development Officer to expand our successful adult cycling lesson program to include children, young people, and families in the Bradford District. This role offers flexible hours (e.g., 2-4 days/week) to accommodate personal commitments, with some home working and occasional weekend work.
Salary: Equivalent to £22,283 - £29,310 FTE (35 hours/week), negotiable based on experience. There's a six-month probationary period.
About the Role
You'll be crucial in delivering and developing cycling activities within community settings, collaborating with local groups and partners. Your work will encourage active travel and build community-led cycling initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver and develop cycling activities for children, young people, and families (on and off-road).
Encourage active travel in individuals and communities.
Co-deliver cycling activities with partner organizations.
Deliver adult cycling lessons.
Support administration of the adult cycling lessons program (booking sessions, liaising with freelance trainers).
Provide cover and support for other instructors.
Build community and volunteer-led groups.
Market and promote activities.
Report on delivery, including data collection for monitoring and evaluation.

Skills & Experience
Required:
Experience working with community groups or in community settings.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Ability to work independently.
Knowledge of or links to specific Bradford communities or projects, including Asian and minority groups.
Good administration and IT skills.
Desirable (training opportunities available):
Ride-leader or National Standards cycling training qualification.
Experience in a cycling-related job.
Experience with project monitoring and evaluation.
First Aid trained.
Some knowledge of bike mechanics.
Promotion, campaigns, or PR skills.
Experience in collaborative project design.
Experience working with young people or individuals facing personal challenges.
Benefits & Working Arrangements
Pension: NEST scheme (5% employee, 3% employer contribution) after three months.
Pay: Monthly via PAYE, around the 20th.
Holidays: 28 days (pro-rata for part-time) plus bank holidays (8 days pro-rata). Total 36 days (FTE).
Flexibility: Accommodating employer, open to discussing working arrangements. Some home working is an option.
Location: Office and workshop facilities at Rawson Road, Bradford, with activities delivered at partner venues.
