West Lothian Council are committed to far reaching changes to the way we deliver our Education Services. These changes include giving you the support and environment that you need to get on with your job and develop your abilities. Our dedication is demonstrated by the whole council achievement of the Investors in People Standard and always aiming a little higher in our service delivery and improvements.

Beatlie School provides education for pupils with profound, severe and complex learning difficulties aged between 3 and 18 years of age. The school catchment area covers the whole of West Lothian Council. The school have recently moved to a new building which has been purpose built to support the complex needs of the children who attend.

The curriculum at Beatlie is child-centred and aims to look at the whole child, considering individual's needs, personalities and age. We provide a broad balanced curriculum within the National Framework for Curriculum for Excellence. Multi-sensory and interactive methods ensure the curriculum is dynamic and meaningful for each pupil. The curriculum is at a level appropriate to the young person.

Our teaching staff and advanced pupil support workers are highly skilled and ongoing training is provided to ensure all children are nurtured and cared for and provided with outstanding learning experiences. Staff are creative and caring and able to recognise and celebrate all the individual successes and achievements for our pupils.

The complexities of medical, physical and sensory needs require the school staff to work closely and in collaboration with Allied Health Professional to ensure each child has the appropriate medical and educational supports provided to meet their needs.

There is a very positive and productive ethos across the school. Staff, parents and partners work very well together to create a whole school community to provide the best possible care for our children
