We are looking to recruit full time Porters to work between the hours of 07.00am to 23.00pm Monday to Sunday, shift times TBC, also 2 x part time porters to work 4 hours per day Saturday and Sunday, shift times TBC
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and capable individual with high standards of communication and a positive work attitude. You must be of smart appearance, polite manner and possess excellent customer service skills.
You will be responsible for supporting service improvements and encouraging the delivery of high productivity; supported by excellent customer care.
You will be able to work on your own initiative and under direction, whilst maintaining confidentiality and discretion at all times. The ability to prioritise your own workload and multi-task, as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential.
In this role you will be required to provide a customer focused Porter service.
Successful applicants must have:
• Good verbal and written communication skills.

• Understanding for health and safety issues.
• Ability to work within a team and on your own.
• Ability to use tact and diplomacy in all situations.
• Able to react flexibly in changing circumstances.
• Basic computer skills.
You should be a team player who will support other team members, Coordinators and Managers.

The role of a Porter is instrumental to the smooth running of the Hospital, you will move patients, deliver patient meals and manage safe movement of other medical equipment.
Porters should have the ability to work quickly and calmly in emergencies, have good interpersonal skills with the ability to listen and empathise, be patient and tolerant, a good physical fitness and have the ability follow instructions and work to tight time constraints.

Transport of patients to wards and departments including emergency bed and stretcher patients.
Take specimens to laboratories.
Collect clinical waste from wards and departments.
Deliver meal trolleys to and from wards.
Delivery of equipment to wards and departments.
Attending fire response at the request of line manager.
Delivery of drugs from wards and departments including controlled drugs.
Post-room duties
Any other designated duties as and when required by the porter services management.
