Summary
Thorn Baker Industrial Recruitment is working in partnership with a well-established manufacturing company in Derbyshire to recruit an experienced CNC Waterjet Operator. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals with a background in CNC machinery—particularly waterjet or laser cutting—to advance their technical skillset within a supportive and growing environment.
Role Overview
As a CNC Waterjet Operator, you will be responsible for the accurate operation and basic setting of CNC-controlled waterjet cutting machinery. This position involves a combination of computer-based control and hands-on machine operation, making it ideal for candidates with a strong mechanical understanding and proven CNC operating experience.
Key Responsibilities:
• Operate CNC waterjet cutting machinery to meet production and quality specifications
• Read and interpret engineering drawings to ensure precise cutting operations
• Carry out routine checks and minor preventative maintenance on machinery
• Use computer-based systems to adjust settings, input programmes, and track job progress
• Support production targets whilst adhering to health and safety protocols
Key Skills & Experience:
• Previous experience operating CNC machinery (waterjet or laser cutting preferred)
• Confident interpreting technical drawings and setting machines accordingly
• Competent using computer systems as part of CNC machine operation
• Hands-on, detail-focused approach to work
• Proactive and reliable attitude with a willingness to develop new skills
