We are looking to appoint a new research assistant to join ourprogressive and vibrant R&D team.The role is patient / staff facing and requires the post holder to have an aptitude and enthusiasm to work with a range of people fromdifferent cultures, ages, diagnosed conditions and environments. Our research portfolio covers mental health, dementia, and community care services.


The post holder will work with services toestablish,developandmaintainrelationships tofacilitateresearch activities. Through these relationships they willidentifyand enrol patients, theircarersand staff into research projects, undertaking duties such as advertising, screening, consent, and data collection with participants as required.


NELFT is an innovative and dynamicorganisationwith an accomplished record of delivering research studies throughout the Trust thanks to our skilled staff and clinicians. In the lastyearthe team collaborated with community and mental health services to deliver over 50 NIHRPortfolio Studiesand the team enrolled more than 1400 people into research.


Thepost-holderwill have experience of working with peoplewith mental health problems,physical health problems and/or other disabilitiesandpossessanunderstanding of research methods used in the NHS. They will beacreativeproblem solver,whoisascomfortable working independentlyas they are as part of a team. They willhave excellent communication skills and the ability toestablishand maintain relationships with a wide rangeof stakeholders.The post-holder will havethe opportunity to develop their research skills through formal andexperiential learning, supervision,mentoringand peer support.


Starting with NELFT

NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will includemandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focussing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.



Probationary Period

This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary period or currently a bank member of staff).



High Cost Area Supplement

This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (with a minimum of £4,551 to a maximum of £5,735).
