A caring and supportive personal assistant is required for a happy and lively 14-year-old girl living in the Calstock area. She has autism and ADHD and some challenging behaviours and would like someone she can build up a positive relationship with, to provide her with 1:1 support, which would include some personal care.
She would like someone to support her in activities and in engaging with others in the community.
Her interests include walking and swimming, messy play, listening to music, colouring, and role-playing games. Thomas the Tank Engine and Friends and Peppa Pig are favourite characters. She enjoys being outdoors all year round.
Your support will enable her to explore the local area, enjoy more social opportunities, and establish an engaging routine during evenings, weekends and school holidays.
This is a rewarding opportunity to help a young person grow and achieve greater independence while making a positive impact on their life.
The role is part-time, with support required mostly after school and at the weekends. Additional hours will be available during school holidays. Six hours per week are available, with flexible hours by agreement.
The hourly rate is £12.60 (subject to negotiation), plus mileage expenses.
Experience or knowledge of working with young people with SEND is essential.
A driving licence and access to your own vehicle, having business use insurance, is also essential.
The successful applicant will be employed under a private arrangement with the family rather than being employed or acting for Cornwall Council.
We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. All offers of employment will be subject to the successful candidate undertaking an enhanced DBS check, with the administration process undertaken by Cornwall Council.
If you would like to apply for this role, please send in your CV. Alternatively, you can request an application form.
Your CV or application form will be passed onto the family for their consideration. Due to the high number of applicants that are received for various roles, it is not possible to inform applicants if they have been unsuccessful.
Please apply by emailing a copy of your CV and quoting the reference code AHDP/1115 to: cypdirectpayments@cornwall.gov.uk
Please note, we are unable to offer sponsorship for this role.
