Essential Requirements Valid Current Driving Licence, Diploma or Degree in Environmental Health and be registered as an EHO with the Environmental Health Officers Registration Board

The Role:

We are seeking an Environmental Health Officer to join our busy Food and Health & Safety team here at Bolton Council.

You will work within a friendly and supportive team, carrying out a range of food safety and health and safety functions. These include food inspections in the full range of premises, assessing food hygiene ratings and explaining these to food business operators and also identifying and addressing health and safety matters of evident concern. You will carry out inspections for registrations of skin piercing activities. You will also participate in our reactive health and safety rota, providing advice or carrying out enforcement as required.

The role also involves food standards work, the investigation of food safety and health and safety complaints, referrals, RIDDOR notifications, infectious diseases and smoke-free enforcement.

The team also has involvement in high profile events and activities hosted within the Borough during the year.

The role involves regular working outside of normal hours.

About You:

You must be registered with the Environmental Health Registration Board (EHRB) or on the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH) Environmental Health Practitioner Professional Register and meet the competency requirements for an Authorised Officer under the Food Law Code of Practice. You should have experience of food law and health and safety enforcement in a wide variety of premises. You must have the ability to cope with a demanding workload and be able to work as part of a team and on your own.

You must have excellent communication and customer care skills and be able to promote good food safety and health & safety standards within businesses but also undertake appropriate enforcement where required to achieve compliance.

This is your opportunity to join us at an exciting time as we have strong ambitions for the borough.
