Band 6 –Specialist Speech and Language Therapist

Hours: 1.0 wte (37.5.hrs)

Salary: Band 6 (plus outer London High Area Supplement)
The Hounslow Speech and Language Therapy Team are seeking an enthusiastic and innovative Band 6 Specialist Speech and Language Therapist (SLT) working in the Mainstream School Team. This exciting split post (3 days Mainstream/2 days Dysfluency) offers an opportunity to develop a specialism in dysfluency.

The Mainstream Schools Team provides both a consultative assessment service for school aged students and a specialist stream which provides direct intervention for a caseload of children who stammer.

We are an experienced and friendly team that offer:

To deliver specialist clinical decision-making, including assessment, differential diagnosis, treatment, evaluation and general independent management of a diverse and highly complex caseload.

To be accountable for the development, delivery and quality of services for children with speech, language and communication needs by ensuring that the service is effective, well-co-ordinated and responsive to changing needs.
To be responsible for providing specialist knowledge/training/advice in specialist field providing second opinions, clinical supervision and working with students, volunteers and assistants.
To deliver specialist training to the therapy team as well as to a range of professionals as appropriate.
To ensure effective joint working practice between own service, other speech and language therapists and other relevant professionals in the fields of health, education, the voluntary sector, social services.
To maintain an up-to-date, advanced level of theoretical knowledge and therapeutic evidence-based practice through Continuing Professional Development (CPD) activities, reading, clinical excellence networks (CENs) and external training courses.
