SEN Teaching Assistant

Prospero Teaching are working with a lovely SEN School based in the Southampton area that are currently recruiting Teaching Assistants to provide care and academic support to their pupils.

The School, graded as 'Oustanding' by Ofsted, offers education to pupils aged 2-19 with Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD), often including complex medical needs, sensory impairments, and significant cognitive challenges. Pupils may be non-verbal and require personal care and 1:1 or small group support.

Your role will include supporting pupils in accessing a highly individualised curriculum, assisting with personal care and mobility, implementing physiotherapy and communication plans, and ensuring a safe and nurturing environment. You will also assist class teachers in preparing resources and delivering engaging, multisensory activities suited to each pupil's developmental level.

You will be expected to uphold school policies, work as part of a dedicated team, and maintain confidentiality at all times due to the sensitive nature of the role.

Experience, Training and Qualifications:
- GCSEs or equivalent
- Minimum 1 year experience working with children or young people, ideally in an SEN or care setting
- Experience supporting children or young adults with PMLD, medical needs, or complex disabilities (desirable)
- Personal care experience is advantageous
- Up-to-date Safeguarding training issued in the last year

Eligibility:
- Hold Right to Work in the UK
- Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
- Provide two professional, child-related references
