Summary
Support Worker – Supported Living Services
Location: Various supported living homes
Reporting to: Home Manager / Deputy Manager
Employer: We Are Care (recruiting on behalf of our partner care provider)
Role Overview
We Are Care is seeking compassionate and motivated Support Workers to assist vulnerable adults transitioning into supported living services within their communities. The role involves delivering high-quality, person-centred care that promotes independence, daily living skills, and social integration.
You will work closely with individuals to follow personalised care plans, support daily routines, and advocate for their choices and rights while maintaining safeguarding responsibilities.
Core Responsibilities:
Supporting Individuals
- Provide care in accordance with personalised care plans and risk assessments.
- Empower individuals to make informed decisions and advocate on their behalf when needed.
- Support access to community activities, training, and life skills development.
- Assist with all aspects of daily living: cooking, cleaning, shopping, etc.
- Facilitate smooth inductions for new residents and make them feel welcome.
Safeguarding & Protection
- Follow national and local safeguarding policies.
- Respond to incidents and concerns, escalating appropriately.
- Maintain comprehensive and compliant incident records.
Finance & Documentation
- Keep service user files accurate and up to date.
- Follow financial procedures including petty cash use.
Professional Development
- Attend mandatory training (e.g. NAPPI, safeguarding).
- Engage in supervision, appraisals, and team meetings.
- Contribute to service development and quality improvement.
Health & Safety
- Report incidents, accidents, risks, and hazards in line with procedures.
- Perform household maintenance tasks as appropriate.
Essential Criteria
- Understanding of CQC regulations and equality & diversity issues.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships.
- Ability to work unsupervised and manage time effectively.
- Basic IT proficiency and accurate record-keeping.
- Willingness to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Commitment to safeguarding and confidentiality.
Desirable
- Working towards NVQ Level 2 in Health & Social Care.
- Experience in health/social care settings.
- Experience working with vulnerable adults and external agencies.
Additional Information
- This role may include occasional travel and overnight stays.
- All applicants are subject to an Enhanced DBS check.
