Summary
This is an exciting maternity cover post that will offer trainee counselling psychologists studying on recognised professional doctorate training programmes the opportunity to join a small specialist mental health care team working with those presenting with a first episode of psychosis. The post is fixed term September 2025 – May 2026 at 0.4WTE (2 days a week). The West Essex First Episode of Psychosis (FEP) Team offers a high quality, evidence-based and multi-disciplinary treatment package for early intervention in psychosis. Psychology plays an integral part in the service provision for clients offering individual as well as family therapy and carer support.
The post holder would be delivering primarily individual assessment, formulation and intervention to support clients with psychosis as well as other mental health difficulties including depression, anxiety, trauma, amongst others. We offer CBTp as well as other therapeutic models and integrative approaches depending on client needs. The post holder will be supervised by a Principal Clinical Psychologist and supported by other psychological therapies staff within the team.
The post-holder will primarily work out of our base in Stansted although some clients may be seen in our main team base in Harlow also.
Provide psychological assessments of service users, utilising information from health, social care, education and employment contacts, as well as direct contact with the service user and their carers.
To formulate and implement plans for psychological therapy together with the service user And in collaboration with the wider MDT.
To be responsible for delivering evidenced-based psychological therapy interventions for individuals presenting with a first episode of psychosis and/or co-existing mental health difficulties, under the supervision of a qualified psychologist.
