DWP. Digital with Purpose.
We are looking for an experienced Content Designer to join our community of tech experts in DWP Digital.
We're using fresh ideas and leading-edge tech to build and maintain digital solutions that will be used by nearly every person in the UK, every day and at key moments in their lives.
DWP is the UK's largest government department. We help people into work, and make payments worth over £195bn a year to support and empower millions of people.
The scale of what we do is extraordinary, and our purpose is unique. We'd love you to join us.
You and your role
We are passionate about creating user-centred services that truly make a different, shaping services that impact millions of UK citizens.
You're a leader. You will not only design content, but also guide teams on best practise, strategy and truly champion content design and user-centred design across the department.
You'll be a mentor, line managing and coaching our senior design practitioners to develop services that are accessible and put the user first. You will also build relationships and influence ways of working to be as effective as possible, directing initiatives for the DWP and cross-government design communities.
What skills, knowledge and experience will you need? How will this be assessed?
Our application process includes both a technical statement and a personal statement. This is your opportunity to showcase clear examples and evidence of how you meet the following:
Technical Statement:
- Tell us how you have ensured that a team can consistently produce good quality content, even in a challenging environment - for example where there are competing deadlines or priorities, unrealistic expectations or constraints. We will ask you more about your response in your interview, if you're invited to one.
Personal Statement:
- Have substantial experience of designing accessible and plain English content, and have embedded content patterns, processes or guidelines in a team's way of working.
- Have substantial experience of using quantitative and qualitative data to design content, transactions or services, in collaboration with other disciplines.
- Have guided colleagues towards the most appropriate prototyping technique to show, test and explain content.
- Have assured the quality of others' work and led community of practice initiatives or activities.
- Have substantial experience of advocating for the role of content design.
- Have built long-term strategic relationships and reached consensus on an approach to meet stakeholder priorities and users' needs.
- Have implemented content strategies or initiatives and evaluated their impact on wider strategic goals.
The sift panel will use the information you provide to assess your experience, skills and knowledge against the above.
