OverviewWe are looking for a skilled and proactive Senior Design Technician to join our team. You will be responsible for producing high-quality 2D and 3D structural designs using CAD software, supporting project delivery, and coordinating with internal and external teams.
Key Responsibilities-
Manage your workload and meet deadlines set by your Line Manager.

Create accurate 3D models and 2D drawings for structural steel, light gauge steel, timber, balconies, and related systems.

Prepare and issue production information packs (CAM files, fabrication drawings, marking plans, reports).

Ensure all designs follow building regulations, CDM standards, and internal quality procedures.

Attend design meetings, communicate technical details, and represent the company professionally.

Support architects, engineers, and contractors with technical queries.

Coordinate external design elements such as stairs, lifts, and masonry supports.

Mentor junior technicians and share software/product knowledge.

Keep project records and documents up to date (DDS, RFI, Planner, QA).

Contribute to continuous improvement by identifying and resolving design issues.

Proficient in 2D and 3D CAD software, especially AutoCAD and Tekla Structures.

Strong knowledge of hot rolled steel, light gauge systems, joist floors, timber roofs, and structural detailing.

Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings.

Good understanding of load-bearing structures, connections, and building physics.

Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Good communication and teamwork skills.

Able to manage time effectively and adapt to workload changes.

Confident in representing the company in meetings.

HNC, Diploma, or equivalent qualification in Construction, Engineering, or a related field.

Experience in structural design, detailing, or technical support roles in construction or manufacturing.

Knowledge of ISO standards (e.g., 9001, 14001, 18001).

Familiar with document systems such as DDS, DIS, PEH.
