As a key member of Manufacturing, you will utilize Lean Six Sigma autonomous and progressive maintenance standards to maintain equipment and support new innovations across the site.
How you will contribute
As an operator at Bournville, you will perform a number of key roles and tasks to ensure that we continue to make products that we are proud to share with our families, in a modern, friendly and inclusive factory environment.
As well as operating the machinery that produces the nations favourite brands, you will be responsible for ensuring we meet all of our food quality standards and you will commit to maintaining a safe working environment for you and your colleagues. On a daily basis, this means regular quality checks and having daily safety conversations with the other members of your team.
You will be required to work towards Bournville’s Integrated Lean Six Sigma (IL6S) practices initially to an AM3 standard, carrying out autonomous maintenance techniques such as Clean, Inspect and Lubricate (CIL) various items of machinery to schedule to ensure optimum performance. You will also demonstrate the necessary skills and behaviours to work towards and attain IL6S AM4 which will start to look at how, as operators, you can understand how different systems and components interact with one another and be able to identify and eliminate causes of downtime before they occur.

Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) including understanding safety maps and identifying the different sources of potential stored energy and where and how to isolate them to make equipment safe to be worked on or during cleaning.
Behavioural Observation Survey (BOS) and Quality Observation Survey (QOS) where you will log all your safety and quality conversations in order to make Bournville and its products as safe as possible.
Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and One Point Lessons (OPLs) where you will pass on knowledge and key learnings to other members of your team to ensure best practice is applied consistently.
Kaizens, where you will identify areas that are preventing optimal performance and suggest ways to eliminate them.
Solvace Tags, where you will highlight issues on your plant and ensure they are resolved in a timely manner.
Daily Management System (DMS) meetings, where you will review top losses on your plant with all key stakeholders from leadership, engineering, process and help to come up with ways to prevent them reoccurring.
Full and comprehensive training and ongoing support will be provided to help you with the above systems and responsibilities, but you will be expected to have a level of experience and knowledge in some areas as outlined below:
Required
Previous Manufacturing experience – preferably in a fast-moving consumable goods environment or operating a production line.
Ability to communicate effectively and professionally to achieve targets and deadlines.
Flexible, goal-focussed approach and a will to win

A continuous improvement mindset
High work standards
Preferred:
Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) trained
Lean Six Sigma/Continuous improvement trained or with working knowledge
