This is a permanent position based at both Singleton and Bay Campuses within the Estates Infrastructure Services Team, working across all University sites and occasionally at weekends. The Technical Officer (Mechanical) will provide professional and technical knowledge and experience contributing to the successful delivery of the University’s estate and campus services, ensuring a well maintained and safe built environment for the University community.
Reporting to a Senior Technical Officer, the post holder will be expected to deputise the role of Senior Technical Officer as required. You will provide professional and mechanical technical support to assist in the delivery of the University’s Technical Services including planned and reactive maintenance of building services and wider campus infrastructure. Working closely with colleagues across Estates and Campus Services on energy and water efficiency & decarbonisation funding and implementation projects. The successful candidate will ensure campus infrastructure, buildings, plant and equipment are energy/water efficient, cost effective and fully support University strategic net zero objectives.
As a qualified and experienced building services tradesperson or Technical Officer you will have a strong customer first ethos. You will be a good communicator and provide clear, accurate and concise means of communication to others. To be successful in this role, you will need a good understanding of the varied mechanical systems across the University Estate. You will need to be someone who strives for excellence and enjoys providing accurate diagnosis of faults to achieve resolution of issues quickly. You will also possess an ability to manage works and strong communication skills with the ability to summarise technical detail to colleagues. You will have a positive attitude with a flexible and adaptable approach to your work and be comfortable when priorities suddenly need to change. You are equally comfortable working alone as you are as part of a team.
