The Technical Services within Estates Services is responsible for the repair and maintenance of Oxford University’s diverse estate. Our skilled, multidisciplinary team keeps everything running - from historic listed buildings to pioneering new facilities like the Life and Mind Building, and the Stephen A. Schwarzman Centre for the Humanities, two landmark developments designed to shape the future of science, culture, and education on a global scale.

About the Role
As a member of our Electrical Maintenance Team, you will deliver both planned and reactive electrical maintenance across a wide range of building systems. Your responsibilities will include maintaining lighting, small power, and plant systems; conducting electrical inspections; supervising specialist contractors; and contributing to energy efficiency initiatives.
You will be involved in supporting both day-to-day operations and long-term improvements, including capital project handovers and environmental upgrades.
You’ll have the autonomy to prioritise your work, while also collaborating closely with mechanical engineers, building managers, and sustainability specialists across the University.
This is a highly varied and rewarding role, offering the opportunity to apply your skills in one of the UK’s most prestigious institutions while helping ensure the safe and reliable operation of its buildings.
About You
You will be a qualified electrician with:
• A City & Guilds qualification (including 18th Edition and Test & Inspection)
• Strong experience of electrical maintenance and fault-finding
• Knowledge of BS 7671 and the Electricity at Work Regulations
• The ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Excellent communication skills and a proactive, customer-focused attitude
