Summary
Review and work to embed the teams clinical programme, including referral, assessment, treatment, discharge and aftercare. Establish and embed robust clinical supervision and reflective practice processes Take a lead on the support, coaching and mentoring of clinicians around core areas of midwifery practice. Review and embed local clinical / operational protocols in accordance with current Trust policy, leading and managing positive change processes Review and embed baseline levels of core competency and accepted practice in accordance with national guidelines (e.g. NICE) and current clinical evidence Work proactively, compassionately and dynamically with the clinical team to ensure practice is orientated to contemporary ethical, clinical and professional standards Share with the team manager the leadership of, and accountability for, all aspects of patient safety and safeguarding, and any relevant improvement work around these areas (e.g. awareness raising, process review, training and mentoring). Design, adapt and embed measures to improve patient experience and define the patient journey as it relates to the team. Assess and improve core aspects of clinical documentation (including care planning, progress recording, mental state assessment, risk assessment and formulation), identifying requirements for additional, external resources where necessary. Be a contact point and a visible / accessible clinical leader for the team, working alongside practitioners to develop an integrated culture of care. Undertake and support the specialist assessment of maternity needs and psychological functioning for service users with complex health and wellbeing needs. Be jointly responsible with the team manager and other, specialist midwives to facilitate and develop robust joint working arrangements with maternity services across the locality and other providers of perinatal mental health care such as The Perinatal Mental Health Team and Talking Therapies. Oversee and support student placements, apprenticeships and other clinical learning experiences, working towards a sustainable learning culture Plan, deliver and evaluate specialist therapeutic interventions within sphere of speciality working directly with other registered practitioners. Lead and promote a whole team approach within the service to ensure a shared ownership of the clinical programme and shared responsibility for the care environment Work with the team manager to ensure that continuing improvements to the service are in line with organisational goals. Work with the team manager and all team members to develop a culture that not only promotes equality and diversity, but actively champions the value of a diverse workforce.
