Summary
A rewarding opportunity has arisen for a caring, proactive, and enthusiastic individual to join a dedicated team as a Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant. This role involves supporting children with additional needs in a nurturing, inclusive learning environment where every child is encouraged to thrive. Beginning September 2025.
Duties as a SEN Teaching Assistant:
Provide one-to-one or small group support to pupils with a range of SEN, including autism, speech and language difficulties, and social, emotional, and mental health needs.
Assist in the delivery of tailored learning activities under the guidance of the class teacher and SENCo.
Foster a safe, encouraging and stimulating environment that promotes independence and confidence.
Support the implementation of individual support plans and contribute to their ongoing review.
Help manage classroom behaviour in a calm, consistent, and positive manner.
Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and families to ensure each pupil receives high-quality support.
Ideal SEN Teaching Assistant:
Experience working with children or young people with special educational needs (formal or informal).
A compassionate, patient, and adaptable approach.
Excellent communication skills and a team-focused mindset.
Good literacy and numeracy skills as a SEN Teaching Assistant.
A relevant Level 2 or 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning is advantageous but not essential.
An understanding of safeguarding responsibilities in a school setting.
