Summary

A rewarding opportunity has arisen for a caring, proactive, and enthusiastic individual to join a dedicated team as a Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant. This role involves supporting children with additional needs in a nurturing, inclusive learning environment where every child is encouraged to thrive. Beginning September 2025.

Duties as a SEN Teaching Assistant:

  • Provide one-to-one or small group support to pupils with a range of SEN, including autism, speech and language difficulties, and social, emotional, and mental health needs.

  • Assist in the delivery of tailored learning activities under the guidance of the class teacher and SENCo.

  • Foster a safe, encouraging and stimulating environment that promotes independence and confidence.

  • Support the implementation of individual support plans and contribute to their ongoing review.

  • Help manage classroom behaviour in a calm, consistent, and positive manner.

  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and families to ensure each pupil receives high-quality support.

Ideal SEN Teaching Assistant:

  • Experience working with children or young people with special educational needs (formal or informal).

  • A compassionate, patient, and adaptable approach.

  • Excellent communication skills and a team-focused mindset.

  • Good literacy and numeracy skills as a SEN Teaching Assistant.

  • A relevant Level 2 or 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning is advantageous but not essential.

  • An understanding of safeguarding responsibilities in a school setting.
