Graduate Teaching Assistant – Camden (Specialist Autism Provision)

Are you a recent graduate with a passion for supporting students with special educational needs? We have an exciting opportunity for a Graduate Teaching Assistant to join a Secondary School in Camden, working within their specialist autism provision attached to the mainstream school.

This is an ideal role for graduates eager to make a difference in the lives of students who may have autism. If you’re a recent Psychology graduate or someone considering a future in education, counselling, or special needs, this role could be the perfect first step.

Key Responsibilities:
• Provide 1:1 and small group support for students in the autism provision, helping them to engage with the curriculum and develop social and emotional skills.
• Assist in managing challenging behaviour and supporting students who are disengaged or have ADHD or SEMH.
• Work closely with classroom teachers and the SEN team to adapt learning materials and ensure students’ needs are met.
• Help students build confidence, independence, and the ability to integrate into the mainstream school environment.
• Support classroom activities, assessments, and general preparation as needed.

Ideal Candidate:
• A recent graduate with a Psychology degree or a strong interest in special educational needs.
• Keen to work with students with autism, ADHD, SEMH, or other learning challenges.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a patient and empathetic approach.
• Proactive and willing to learn, with a passion for supporting students to reach their full potential.
• Previous experience working with children (voluntary or paid) is a plus, but not essential.
