Summary
The Council is looking for an enthusiastic Homeless Officer to deliver housing and homelessness advice in line with the homelessness legislation.
The post holder will play an important role supporting households under the Relief Duty. The role will be focused on supporting homeless households within the district in search to find alternative accommodation, or making a homeless decision depending on the success through the Relief Duty, based on facts of their case.
Tasks will include
Effectively assisting households finding alternative accommodation in line with the Homelessness Legislation.
Dealing with Homeless Households in extremely vulnerable situations
Managing difficult conversation and expectations
Liaising with various professional agencies including Police and Social Services
Essential requirements
Good communication skills
Part of the Out of Hours Service and Emergency Plan.
Organisation in managing large caseloads
Letter writing
Knowledge of the Homelessness Reduction Act.
Hybrid working considered as part of the Council's flexible working policy.
Due to the nature of the role the successful candidate will be required to undertake an Enhanced DBS check as part of their pre-employment checks.
