Summary
The Communications Directorate is a multi-disciplinary team delivering the Home Office’s communications strategy. We are insight-led and results-driven, and our marketing campaigns support strategic objectives using a wide range of channels. We seek to provide high quality media, rebuttal and social media services. Our Internal Communications team supports employee engagement and business transformation.
This is a chance to join the Home Office digital team, a highly creative unit that is at the forefront of communicating how the department’s work impacts the lives of people throughout the United Kingdom.
The digital team sits within the Communications Directorate which delivers on the Home Office’s communication strategy. We are insight-led, results-driven and work alongside our high-quality media, marketing and external affairs teams.
We are looking for someone with the ability to create innovative and targeted digital content strategies that will allow the digital team to reach new and existing audiences affected by the work of the Home Office. Alongside the output on organic channels such as YouTube, ‘X’ and Instagram, you will also be tasked with delivering content with influencers, content creators and digital media outlets.
The post holder will help to develop strategies often at pace to ensure we are delivering effective digital content and will be responsible for improving the output on our channels, growing audiences and reaching as many people as possible in the UK affected by Home Office work – all whilst being insight-led and evaluated. The role will involve interaction with the Home Office’s most senior leaders, including special advisers and our Ministerial team. The successful candidate will be supported to learn and develop, bring their own ideas, challenge the status quo and experiment with new approaches.
Key Responsibilities
• Taking ownership of and responsibility for the timely production of digital content which aligns to the objectives of our communications strategy.
• Producing insight-based digital communications plans.
• Supporting specialist creative teams to make cutting edge digital content.
• Working closely with media and campaigns teams within different policy areas to inform the digital communications team’s content strategy.
• Using data and insight to create meaningful reports and analysis to better inform the team's decision-making and creative direction.
• Making insight-led recommendations to, and win the confidence of, Ministers and other senior stakeholders in relation to content creation.
• Take a leading role in identifying engaging content opportunities and in building relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Line management of one staff member.
Work pattern
Due to the business requirements of this role, it is only available on a full-time basis.
Travel
There will be the need for occasional UK-wide travel which is dependent on business needs. This may include overnight stays when necessary.
