Are you an experienced and qualified Environmental Health professional looking for a unique opportunity to make a tangible impact? Join our dedicated team in Orkney and play a key role in ensuring the highest standards of port health.

As an Environmental Health Technical Officer – Port Health, you will be at the forefront of protecting public health across Orkney’s ports. Reporting to the Service Manager, you will independently manage a dynamic caseload, conducting inspections, audits, and compliance checks on vessels of all types. Your expertise will be crucial in providing clear guidance and support to businesses while ensuring strict adherence to port health legislation. As a valued member of a small team, you’ll also get the opportunity to take on other casework across the Environmental Health Service

What We’re Looking For

• Port Health Expertise: A strong working knowledge of port health legislation is essential, alongside the ability to handle casework confidently with minimal supervision.

• Food Law Qualification: You must be eligible to work as a food law officer within Scotland. Membership of REHIS (or equivalent) is highly desirable.

• Flexibility & Commitment: This role involves out-of-hours work and requires a current UK driving licence to drive a car/small van.

• Professional Development: We value continuous learning, and you will be expected to maintain professional development to enhance your expertise.
