Summary

As a Maintenance Worker for our Libraries and Community Hubs, you'll work closely with the Lead Technician to maintain our buildings, taking on various maintenance and repair tasks, as well as larger projects like library refurbishments. Flexibility is key, as your workload will vary depending on the projects at hand, however you'll be given at least 2-4 weeks’ notice of your shifts, allowing you to plan ahead. You'll have the chance to directly influence the look and feel of libraries, creating safe and welcoming spaces for the community.

What you’ll be doing:
• Carrying out minor maintenance and repairs to buildings, furniture, fixtures, fittings and equipment.
• Patching/touching up of decoration to maintain high standards.
• Maintaining cleanliness of buildings, grounds, and equipment, and carrying out heavy cleaning tasks as required.
• Travelling across the county using a Luton van to reach different libraries.
• Moving furniture and heavy/bulky equipment.
• Complying with all relevant health and safety policies and procedures.

What we’re looking for:
• Experience of simple DIY style maintenance and repairs.
• Flexibility to adapt to varying workloads and schedules.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a small team, building strong working relationships.
• Ability to complete written records as well as use digital systems for planning work and communication.
• Experienced driver with a clean driving licence.
