Embedded OD Practitioner - Manchester Royal Infirmary

There’s never been a better time to consider joining our Manchester Royal Infirmary Clinical Group People Team working to support the delivery of the MFT Strategy and People Plan. Join us, and you could soon be helping to coordinate and deliver agreed organisational development interventions, projects, activities and programmes that will ultimately enhance staff and patient experience.

In your role you will cover a selection of specific areas, including Culture and Leadership, Talent Enablement, Performance Enablers, Staff Engagement, Teams Development and Change & Organisational Design.

Already an established OD professional, you’re educated to degree level or equivalent and have experience of supporting workforce needs. What's more, you’re used to working in a large, complex, multi-professional organisation and environment of change. Knowledge of the principles of OD and training is essential, as is familiarity with HR policies and procedures. What’s more, you’re flexible in approach, have excellent presentation and project management skills and know how to effectively persuade, negotiate with, and influence others.

In return, you’ll benefit from a supportive team where your career ambitions will have every chance to be fulfilled.

Flexibility is a critical aspect of this role and the post holder will need to demonstrate the willingness, understanding and ability to manage a broad range of organisational requirements and demands.

Close and effective working relationships with the HR Management Team and Clinical Group and Corporate teams are vital to successfully achieving the required outcomes and you will be required to demonstrate a strong team working ethic at all times.

Using your well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills, you will enjoy coming up with creative solutions to complex challenges, including how best to engage with staff to maximise their involvement in your initiatives.

You will have well-developed influencing and people management skills, with the confidence to work with colleagues at all levels, including the Senior Leadership Team. Embedding a culture of continuous improvement, you will mentor and inspire colleagues.

You’ll be resilient and ambitious with a vibrant ‘can do’ attitude and values that mirror our own perfectly with the skill and flexibility to operate at pace and overcome individual and organisational obstacles positively, and collaboratively.

Lastly, you’ll be an impressive communicator with the ability to adapt your approach & style to meet needs of audience as you’ll deliver training to managers, HR & employees on a variety of topicsfor various clients, including both internal & external stakeholders.

MFT is one of the largest NHS Trusts in England with a turnover of £2.8bn & is on a different scale than most other NHS Trusts. We’re creating an exceptional integrated health & social care system for the 1 million patients who rely on our services every year.

Bringing together 10 hospitals & community services from across Manchester, Trafford & beyond, we champion collaborative working & transformation, encouraging our 30,000 workforce to pursue their most ambitious goals. We set standards that other Trusts seek to emulate so you’ll benefit from a scale of opportunity that is nothing short of extraordinary.

We’ve also created a digitally enabled organisation to improve clinical quality, patient & staff experience, operational effectiveness & driving research, and innovation through the introduction of Hive; our Electronic Patient Record system which launched in September 2022.

We’re proud to be a major academic Research Centre & Education provider, providing you with a robust infrastructure to encourage and facilitate high-quality research programmes. What’s more, we’re excited to be embarking on our Green Plan which sets out how MFT continues to play its part in making healthcare more sustainable.

At MFT, we create and foster a culture of inclusion and belonging, provide equal opportunities for career development that are fair, open, and transparent, protecting your health and wellbeing and shaping the future of our organisation together.

To find out more about the key responsibilities and the specific skills and experience you’ll need, take a look at the Job Description & Person Specification attachments under the ‘Supporting Documents’ heading. So that you’re even more equipped to make an informed decision to apply to us, you’ll need to take time to read the ‘Candidate Essentials Guide’ that sits with the Job Description and Person Specification. This document provides you with details about the Trust, our benefits and outlines how ‘we care for you as you care for others’. Most importantly, it also contains critical information you’ll need to be aware of before you submit an application form.
