Summary
Job Description for class teacher
Main purpose:
• Class teacher responsibility
• Maintain and build upon the standards achieved in the QTS (Primary) Award
• Consistently meet the National Teaching Standards to a good standard
• Use Planning, Preparation and Assessment (PPA) time effectively for these purposes
Responsible to:
Executive Headteacher, Head of School and the Governing Body
Section 1 – Class teacher duties
Teaching and learning
Monitoring, assessment, recording and reporting
Curricular knowledge and understanding
Health and safety
Continuing professional development – personal
Section 2 – Pastoral duties
Support, guidance, monitoring and reporting
Rewards and sanctions
Liaising with others
Representing pupils
General tasks
Administration: (registration, absences, lateness)
Section 3 – Teaching and learning responsibilities (subject to be agreed)
Curricular development
Stock, resources and budget
Liaison and communication
