Summary

The Band 7 Sonographer position at Newham University Hospital is a diverse and dynamic role within one of London’s largest ultrasound departments. The post holder should demonstrate an ability to perform a range of diagnostic ultrasound examinations including obstetrics, gynaecology, musculoskeletal, abdominal, paediatrics, head and neck and vascular imaging. The position has a vital role in providing high level patient care and diagnostics, across a 7 day service with 12-hour operating days, which will directly impact patient treatment.

Our Sonographers undertake clinical work within established quality standards of practice, adhering to Ultrasound guidelines such as those published by BMUS, RCOG, RCR and NICE. The post-holder will work within departmental protocols as a practitioner in the delivery of all ultrasound imaging, reporting and management of the patient.

The postholder will also be responsible for contributing to ongoing research, teaching and audits. Collaborative working across multi-disciplinary teams and across the wider Imaging department will be fundamental. Professional development and development of additional technical diagnostic skills is highly promoted through our internal Barts Health Trust-wide education and preceptorship programme. Postholders will be encouraged to utilise their regular CPD sessions to promote further learning and development.
