Days and hours of work: 37 hours per week various shift patterns including sleep-ins and weekends)

2-3 sleep-ins per week

Shift patterns varies- 3pm-10pm or 11pm followed by a sleep-in then a further shift until 9am/10am, or 3pm /9am – 3pm (or anything in between).

Monday to Friday 6pm to 10pm/11pm £13.40 per hour

Weekend hours: £14.40 per hour

Sleep-ins: £43.00

We are recruiting on behalf of our client for a Female Community Support Worker based in Attleborough but will be required to travel to other locations. Our client provides a respite service to people with learning disabilities and others within the community. To help develop and support the independence of the service users

Responsibilites and duties:

• To create, maintain, monitor and develop high standards of practice through team working.
• To regularly attend and take an active part in team meetings, ensuring they are used for open and honest discussion that enhances good practice.
• To help create and maintain, within staff team, practices which support the provision of a high quality service to users and carers.
• To undertake any training that is agreed to be necessary for the job including the Care Certificate and where necessary, registration on the Learning Disabilities Award Framework.
• To work within a rota to provide appropriate support for service users.
• To undertake sleep-in duties to ensure appropriate cover for the service, as required.
• To maintain a level of proficiency in First Aid.
• To maintain a knowledge and understanding of procedures in case of emergency.
• To keep a proper account of the expenditure of any monies belonging to the oranisation and/or individual service users.
• To undertake domestic tasks, usually in association with service users, to ensure proper standards of health, hygiene and catering.
• To take responsibility, with service users, for menu planning and food preparation.
• To support service users to complete benefit forms and to find work/volunteering roles.
• To identify any actual or potential risks under the Health and Safety at Work Act and bring them to the attention of the Services Manager.
• To act as key worker to nominated individual service users, developing knowledge of their particular and individual requirements and working with them on plans to meet their needs.
• To monitor the health and welfare of service users, always aiming to achieve in practice the principles of normal living.
• To undertake risk assessments and monitor the risk of particular activities to ensure that, within the limits set by the individual’s needs for growth and change, the individual is not exposed to unnecessary risk.
• To support service users in their medication regime, in line with defined policy and practice.
• To provide a link for information, communication and support between the service and the carers and supporters of service users.
• To liaise with the carers and supporters, ensuring that their views and those of the service user are heard.

Requirements:

• Must be female and have experience in a similar role in the UK
• Must be a driver and have use of a car- mileage paid of 45p per mile
• Medication trained
• Care Certificate
• Must have a full enhanced DBS that is on the update service
• Excellent communication (verbal and written)
