Crynodeb

As a Band 5 Nurse in NUH's satellite renal unit based at Kingsmill Hospital (Sutton-in-Ashfield), you play an important role in providing high-quality, patient-centred care to people undergoing renal replacement therapy.

You are in charge of analysing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care in a dynamic and frequently complex clinical setting, assisting patients with chronic renal disease and those undergoing dialysis.

The unit has 20 stations and manages the regular dialysis treatment of up to 90 patients, the role will require some shift work and weekends working with a mix of staffing grades.

Assessment and Care Planning.
You independently analyse renal patients' treatment needs while considering their physical, emotional, and social well-being. You create individualised treatment plans based on these assessments, which are routinely evaluated and adjusted in response to the patient's condition and comments.

Autonomous Clinical Practice
You perform both direct and indirect patient care activities without direct supervision, exhibiting clinical competence and decision-making confidence.

Leadership and Team Coordination
You may assume responsibility for the clinical area, ensuring safe staffing, effective communication, and continuity of treatment. You help junior employees and contribute to a pleasant team environment.

Evidence-Based Practice.
You actively incorporate current evidence and best-practice standards into your clinical practice. This includes auditing, quality improvement programs, and reflective practice to improve patient outcomes and service delivery.

As a Band 5 Nurse at The Mike Cassidy Renal Unit at NUH, you are responsible for delivering safe, high-quality care to patients with chronic kidney disease undergoing haemodialysis. You will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualised care plans, ensuring they are responsive to patients’ changing clinical needs. Working autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will carry out dialysis procedures, monitor patient responses, and escalate concerns appropriately.
