The post holder as a member of the Trust is expected to provide a dynamic and forward thinking contribution to the Flu Immunisation team which ensures the delivery of effective health and wellbeing care to the staff population. To accept autonomy and responsibility for workload delegated by the Occupational Health & Wellbeing Lead Nurse following effective communication and negotiation, thereby ensuring the delivery of effective health care to the working population. MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The safe administration and delivery of the flu vaccination and winter wellbeing programme across a variety of settings including dedicated community settings, in line with service development standards. Working within a skill mix team delegating and supporting as appropriate and required. Contribute to the identification of individuals need of further support reporting to the appropriate Clinical Nurse Lead, as appropriate Clinical Responsibilities Provide immunisation sessions supporting the team and session coordinator. Screen clients to ensure their inclusion for immunisation meets the required criteria in the General Written Instruction (GWI). Experience in obtaining informed consent and the ability to act on clinical judgement formed from complex information. Ensure maintenance of the Cold Chain is adhered to throughout the process Compliance with the medicines management standards throughout the process including awareness of contraindications to vaccination. Assess and engage professional judgement to ensure client consent is informed in accordance with national and local policy/guidelines. Support clients sensitivity to ensure their inclusion complies with equal opportunities and diversity. Assess and signpost staff to the appropriate named Occupational Health & Wellbeing Advisor where additional advice and support is indicated for identified health needs. Public Health Responsibilities: Provide advice and information to clients, and professionals. Demonstrate some knowledge of Immunisation and Vaccination Programmes, the impact on public health and the national and local agenda. As a member of the Occupational Health & Wellbeing team; develop and deliver the program, supporting achievement of performance targets. Quality and Governance Responsibilities: Maintain accurate and contemporaneous documentation both to ensure timely and effective communication. In accordance with local and NMC code. Ensure confidentiality in accordance with policy and demonstrate understanding of specific issues relating to HDFT staff. Demonstrate skills and knowledge in safeguarding practice. Awareness of dealing with complaints and appropriate reporting accordance with policy. Support the process of client and user satisfaction feedback to help develop service provision. Initiate incident reporting and take the appropriate action to inform line manager. Promote own personal and others health, safety and security taking the appropriate action to report risk in accordance with policy. Resource Responsibilities: Equipment and resources are managed effectively to reduce waste and promote cost efficiency. Ensure the safe keeping and maintenance of equipment in accordance with policy reporting defect or loss Ensure safe storage and stock control of vaccines and adrenaline in accordance with prescription only medicines management and cold chain policy. Professional Responsibilities: Work effectively as team member and independently with ability to prioritise and organise work. Responsible for planning and organising own professional clinical supervision. Develop expertise in specific area in response to demand of the service. Maintain a portfolio to demonstrate continuing professional development, making sure that steps are taken to maintain adequate skills and knowledge base. Maintain contemporaneous client records in line with local and national guidance. Participate in information technology systems, as they are developed, such as Flu Track. To develop ones own knowledge and practice to meet objectives/changes in the service. To contribute to the development of knowledge and practice of others. To promote effective communications and relationships. To promote and participate in collaborative working. Assess individuals needs that affect their health, and social well-being. Contribute to the planning, implementation and monitoring of the flu immunisation programme. Promote peoples equality diversity and rights. Develop, sustain and evaluate collaborative approaches to achieving objectives. Partake in research-based practice. Contribute to the implementation of change in work activities and services if required to do so. Undertake health promotion/health education activities associated with Flu programme To work within NMC Standards and Code of Professional Conduct. Administration To report to his/her line Manager any accidents, injuries, complaints or untoward occurrences with complete reports and statements. To make him/herself familiar with safeguarding procedures To attend meetings convened by the Clinical Nurse Lead. Human Resources To participate in the training requirements for a Flu Vaccinator To participate in the Appraisal process To adhere to Trust policies with regard to absence from duty. To ensure compliance with Statutory and Mandatory training and any other training as required. To complete any other duties commensurate with this post. Adhere to Trust policies and procedures and relevant legislation including the requirements of any professional bodies.
