Summary
What skills and experience we're looking for
Do you like helping students learn? Do you want to work with engaged and motivated young people? Are you looking for classroom experience?
We are seeking to appoint an experienced, assured and dependable Language Assistant to support our students in the French Department. The role includes working one-to-one with students in KS4 and KS5, predominantly on their French speaking skills. A successful candidate should have an awareness of the requirements of the AQA A-level speaking examination and the Pearson Edexcel GCSE 2024 speaking examination.
Foreign Language Assistants play a crucial role in promoting and supporting the creation of an environment that enriches and enlivens the students’ language studies by engaging each student in spoken and occasional written activities. It is the Department's belief that these activities are most effective and enjoyable when they are supported and developed by individuals who are passionate and understand the culture, traditions and current affairs of the countries in which the language is spoken.
This is a part-time, permanent position offering an actual salary £3,861 per annum (£24,404 Full Time Equivalent), based on 7 hours per week, term time only. As our academy timetable works on a fortnightly basis, the role will be 14 hours spread across a two week period.
If you have any questions regarding the role, please contactSarah Rose, PA to the Headteacher, onsarah.rose@sjwms.org.uk.
What the school offers its staff

More than 300 years later we still pride ourselves on providing a superb academic education alongside an unparalleled range of opportunities for personal growth and character development. Awarded ‘outstanding’ in our last Ofsted, the comment that stands out to us is, “students thrive within its distinctive ethos, enabling them to succeed academically and to develop into confident, well-rounded individuals who are prepared extremely well for their future lives.”
