Summary

Clinical responsibilities The following is not an exhaustive or exclusive list of the duties of a consultant. The appointee is expected to: The core responsibilities of the post holder will be as follows: 1. To develop and support the Breast medical oncology service at the North Middlesex Hospital 2. To attend the weekly tumour specific Breast MDTs 3. To take responsibility for the designated clinical workload including all relevant MDMs, out-patient clinics, and review and responsibility for in-patients. 4. To take part in clinical trials in breast cancer 5. To participate in the consultant on-call rota for oncology at North Middlesex Hospital (1 in 16) 6. To participate in the consultant led review of breast oncology inpatients on the North Middlesex Hospital. 7. Work with consultant colleagues and nursing staff to ensure efficient use of Trusts resources and contribute actively to clinical governance in the department and to development of quality enhancement projects in the unit. 8. To provide postgraduate teaching for junior staff 9. To provide clinical supervision for specialist registrars 10. To participate in undergraduate medical student teaching 11. To comply with all the clinical governance processes and procedures of the Trust 12. Compliance with Patients Charter and Purchasers requirements 13. To lead and participate in medical audit as per Royal College of Physicians guidelines 14. To maintain Continuing Professional Development accreditation as per Royal College of Physicians guidelines 15. To participate in the Trust appraisal programme and GMC revalidation processes. 16. The Trust supports the requirements for Continuing Medical Education as laid down by the Royal College of Physicians and is committed to providing time and financial support for these activities.
