Summary

Head Chef – Luxury Care Home | £16 per hour | 40 hours per week

Our client, a beautifully appointed care home with landscaped gardens, is looking for an experienced and passionate Head Chef to join their dedicated hospitality team.

The Head Chef will take the lead in the day-to-day running of the kitchen, ensuring that all meals are prepared to a consistently high standard. This includes creating menus tailored to individual needs, managing a small team, and maintaining impeccable food safety standards.

This care home offers a homely yet high-end environment where food is a central part of the resident experience—fresh, seasonal ingredients and thoughtful presentation are key.

What We’re Looking For

  • Proven experience as a Head Chef within a care home or similar environment is essential
  • Strong understanding of dietary needs for older adults, including allergens, dysphagia diets, and nutrition
  • Level 2 qualification in Food Safety & Hygiene (minimum)
  • Level 2 in Professional Cookery or equivalent
  • Excellent organisational and leadership skills
  • Compassionate and resident-focused with a genuine passion for food
  • Ability to manage a kitchen team and work collaboratively with care staff

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the kitchen in the planning and preparation of nutritionally balanced, varied, and appetising meals
  • Cater for a range of dietary requirements including food allergies, modified textures, and specialist diets
  • Maintain strict hygiene, health, and food safety standards in accordance with regulations
  • Manage kitchen stock, ordering, and budgets efficiently
  • Supervise, train, and support kitchen staff
  • Collaborate with care staff to ensure residents' preferences and needs are met
  • Ensure food presentation is consistently of high quality and welcoming
