Summary
Connect Appointments is currently seeking an experienced Factory Manager to join our client's team in Shildon. This is a permanent opportunity to take the lead in a well-established manufacturing environment, managing a small team and ensuring smooth day-to-day operations.
What's on offer:
- Competitive salary: £30,000 to £35,000 (depending on experience)
- Permanent, full-time position (40 hours per week)
- Regular hours (Monday to Friday - no weekends!)
Key responsibilities as a Factory Manager:
- Manage daily production schedules to meet targets and deadlines
- Allocate work and lead a team of 5-7 production operatives
- Operate and oversee the use of woodworking machinery (beam saws, edge banders, etc.)
- Check incoming deliveries for accuracy and completeness
- Maintain a clean, organised, and Health & Safety-compliant workspace
- Ensure all staff wear appropriate PPE and follow safety procedures
- Contribute to a productive and positive working environment
What we're looking for:
- Proven experience in a factory or workshop management role
- Hands-on knowledge of beam saws, edge banders, and similar equipment
- Basic understanding of CNC machines (preferred but not essential)
- Strong team leadership and organisation skills
- Attention to detail, especially in managing production and inventory
- Forklift licence preferred but not essential
- Health & Safety conscious with a proactive approach
