Summary
We're Hiring: Community Cook
£13.75/hour • 35 hours/week (Mon–Fri, occasional evenings & weekends)
The Gate is an established charity at the heart of Clackmannanshire, supporting our most vulnerable community members. Our mission is to reduce food poverty and social isolation with compassion, dignity, and innovation.
We are looking for a passionate Community Cook and Food Project Coordinator to lead and grow our food-based programmes. If you love cooking, care about people, and want your work to have real impact — this could be the role for you.
About the Role
As our Community Cook, you’ll oversee and support nine key food initiatives, including:
• The Community Café
• Soup Pot programme
• Community Food Delivery Van
• External catering events and more
You’ll also:
• Plan and prepare a variety of meals and cuisines
• Manage kitchens, food safety systems (HACCP), stock and equipment
• Support volunteer recruitment, training, and coordination
• Help promote our work via social media and community networks
• Build partnerships with local organisations
Who We're Looking For
You are:
• An experienced cook, confident with diverse recipes and ingredients
• Passionate about sustainable food, reducing waste, and helping others
• A great organiser and communicator, who enjoys teamwork and leadership
• Comfortable working independently and taking initiative
• Keen to share your skills and inspire others through food
• A driver
