As data engineers at DVLA we are part of the Government Digital and Data function, a community of experts leading digital transformation of government services affecting most of the people in the UK.
At DVLA, data engineers develop and operate data platforms and data products enabling the agency to deliver its services and make better, data-driven decisions.
As a Senior Data Engineer, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining our data platform and data products using the latest cloud technologies, whilst ensuring we follow and maintain industry standards and best practices. As a key member of the team, you will provide support to users and other Data Engineers, including leadership and mentoring. You will be influential in the delivery of high quality, accurate data products.
Responsibilities
- Design and leads on the implementation of data flows to connect operational systems, data for analytics and business intelligence (BI) systems
- Recognise opportunities to reuse existing data flows
- Lead the build of data streaming systems
- Optimise the code to ensure processes perform optimally
- Lead work on database management
- Operate the production data processing services you build
