Summary

Turners (Soham) Ltd is one of the largest privately owned haulage and storage operator in the UK. Our BRC accredited Coldstores operate 24/7, providing a full range of services to clients who supply food products to the retail, foodservice, and wholesale sectors nationwide. We are currently seeking a Warehouse Manager to join our experienced team in the Coldstore Department to organise and plan container operations. You will need strong administration and customer service skills.

As the Warehouse Planning Manager, you will be responsible for managing inbound container planning and logistics, ensuring smooth operations and maintaining strong relationships with customers and operational teams. This role involves overseeing the daily coordination of container logistics, agency staff management, and supporting senior management in meeting key performance indicators (KPIs) and operational targets.

You will be an integral part of ensuring that our warehouse meets BRC standards and continues to deliver exceptional service to our customers.

Key Responsibilities:

Oversee and coordinate inbound container volumes, balancing customer requirements with operational capacity.

Plan and allocate daily agency staff.

Manage agency service providers, ensuring service standards are met.

Support the Training/Compliance Manager and oversee training efforts.

Maintain regular communication with customers regarding delivery schedules, queries, and requests.

Plan for future capacity needs based on shipment forecasts.

Ensure compliance with operating protocols in line with BRC standards, customer expectations, and senior management guidance.

Participate in daily management meetings to discuss KPIs, efficiency, order schedules, and future volumes.

Address any issues with commercial or client implications promptly, escalating to senior management when necessary.

Collaborate closely with Warehouse Managers to plan agency bookings and ensure workload requirements are met.

Required Skills & Experience:

Previous experience in a warehouse environment is essential.

Strong understanding or experience with container logistics is desirable.

Self-motivated with the ability to work well under pressure.

Excellent customer service skills, with the ability to adapt and sell logistics/warehouse capacity where possible.

Confident in using Microsoft Excel and Word.

Experience working with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).

Strong understanding of KPIs and performance targets.

Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

Ability to work effectively within a team and collaborate across departments, particularly with the warehouse and container haulage divisions.

Decision-Making Responsibilities:

Make day-to-day decisions to ensure efficient and effective service.

Maximise warehouse capacity and sell additional logistics/warehouse capacity where possible.

Escalate complex issues to the Operations Manager or Head of Operations for resolution.

Salary: Competitive and open to negotiation


Working Hours: 8am - 5pm, Monday - Friday (Occasional additional hours or weekend working may be required)
