I am a fun-loving, sociable 12-year old girl from the Nantgaredig area.
I require assistance for 3 hours per week away from home to continue building my independence and developing life skills. I have learning disabilities and epilepsy which is well-managed with medication. I am able to move independently but require reassurance and support when out and about, as I can get tired easily. I use a wheelchair for longer day trips
I am looking for a personal assistant to help me access the local community for activities such as swimming, walking, or other physical health and wellbeing activities. I will require help with dressing/undressing, support with personal care, and constant supervision to maintain my safety.
Principal duties and responsibilities:
• Taking me swimming, going for walks, and participating in other health and wellbeing activities.
• Ensuring I am safe at all times while in your care.
• Assisting with dressing/undressing and necessary personal care/prompts.
• Help me develop confidence, independence, and life skills while also having fun.
• To carry out any other reasonable tasks that are requested by the employer during your working hours
• To ensure compliance with Data Protection Act.
• Be mindful of safeguarding issues, and feedback any concerns to Carmarthenshire County Council immediately on (01267 228751)
• Be responsible for contacting the GP, Social Worker or Local Authority should the employer need medical assistance.
Relationships: Communication / Nature of Contacts:
1. Ability to develop supportive and caring relationship with employer.
2. To undertake all duties in a friendly and helpful manner.
3. Able to contact people on behalf of the employer when necessary.

Supporting me to access facilities and community activities.
Person specification – Qualifications, Knowledge, Experience & Skills:
1. Caring, patient and friendly.
2. Responsible, reliable and honest.
3. A car driver is essential for this role.
4. Buccolam trained – or willingness to undertake training
5. Experience of working with children with learning disabilities and epilepsy.
6. Proactive and self-motivated with the ability to work on own initiative.
7. Good timekeeping and flexibility around working patterns and duties as determined by the employer’s requirements.
8. Ability to keep simple records such as time recording.
9. Good communicator able to talk to people on behalf of the employer when required.
10. Able to develop long-term supportive and consistent relationships with employers.
11. Be prepared to undergo training in order to best meet the employers need.
