If you want to be part of Hull's journey and make a real difference to children, now is great time to join, we have various opportunities for Care Officers to join our Childrens Homes teams on a fixed term basis. Homes provide both short and long-term care and support to Children and Young People who are unable to live within their own family home.
About the role:
The role is to provide a highly skilled level of care to each unique young person in our homes, including taking the lead with care packages and ensuring Support Workers are guided and supported. In the absence of a Senior Care Officer, taking responsibility for decisions relating to the safeguarding and care of children as well as responding to the needs of families and staff on duty.
You will also be expected to be competent in both written work and admin that is specific to the role and be able to clearly communicate any information necessary, or that needs passing on to relevant professionals. You will be expected to work proactively and positively with our complex young people in what can be a challenging and demanding role.
We have vacancies in both our Group Homes and Solo Provisions.
About our Group Homes:
Our Group homes are situated within Hulls local community, our homes are multi bedded homes for young people that are comfortable and caring, creating a warm environment for those that come to reside there.
Our shifts pattern within the group homes consists of lates, earlies and sleep over shifts, start times are decided within each individual group home, because the rota is set to meet the needs of each home individually.
About our Solo Provisions:
Our solo provisions are situated within Hulls local community and designed not to stand out as different to anyone else’s family home. The solo provisions are small, but comfortable and caring, creating a warm environment for those that come to reside at their new home.
Our shifts within the Solo provisions consist of a one day on/ two days off pattern – start times will vary dependant upon the manager of each solo provision.
The solo provisions provide a rewarding environment in which working with our young people will provide a platform to help them achieve their full potential and move on positively into the next chapter of their life.
About you:We require all Care Officers to have:

A level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or equivalent, or the ability to complete this within two years of appointment.
Experience working with vulnerable adults or children in a safeguarding or care setting.
A strong motivation to work with Children and Young People and ability to form and maintain appropriate relationships.
An ability to work within relevant framework when assessing situations in order to make decisions and recommendations.
You must be experienced, skilled and confident to lead on all elements of care, and be able to guide and support others.

Two additional increments are payable for weekend working for permanent and fixed term staff.
Hours per week will vary, totalling 148 per month and will include long shifts and sleep in shifts. Hours will exceed 20 hours per week at times due to the rota.
We have 5 posts available, on a fixed term basis for 12 months due to a service review.
We are also recruiting Casual Care Officers to work across various homes on an as and when required basis. If you are interested in casual work, please apply and state this in the additional information on the application form.
Casual roles are to cover holidays, absence and training, and do not have a set working pattern or regular hours. Due to the long shifts that may also include sleep in shifts, the ability to be flexible as to when, and how many hours you are able to work is essential. Where possible, work is pre-arranged however, there may be times when you will be asked to work at short notice. Various training courses are also mandatory, which will require you to attend over several days, during weekdays.
