Summary

A Vacancy at Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust.

We are looking to recruit a full time, permanent Consultant Forensic Psychiatrist to join our multidisciplinary team at Reaside Clinic, Birmingham.

The post holder will be the Responsible Clinician for a caseload comprising male patients in medium secure care and community patients who have been discharged from secure care.

You will provide medical leadership to a multidisciplinary clinical team, manage referrals into the service from a defined geographical catchment area, and maintain good working relationships with secondary care services in that area.

There will be many opportunities to develop in the role according to interests, and within the secure care and offender health directorate or in the wider Trust.

The post holder will be responsible for managing referrals to the clinical team, liaising with referrers and arranging clinical assessments, in conjunction with the senior nurse working in the team. Clinical assessments will largely be access to care assessments, intended to facilitate the movement of patients along the most appropriate care pathway. Assessments may also be carried out to provide advice on management for patients who do not require admission to secure care but where there are significant concerns about risk.
