Learning Support Technician - Marine

Job Ref:2726

Salary: £24,811 to £26,123 per annum, plus excellent benefits.

Contract Type: Permanent, full-time, 37 hours per week, 52 weeks per year

Location: Paignton, Devon

As a Marine Learning Support Technician, you’ll be located at our Noss on Dart campus, at the heart of our practical learning environments—ensuring our workshops, vessels, and marine facilities run smoothly, safely, and efficiently. A key part of your role will involve hands-on vessel maintenance, ensuring all boats are fully operational, seaworthy, and securely prepared for a range of weather conditions.

You’ll spend time both onshore and, on the water, supporting the delivery of practical sessions and helping students gain real-world experience in marine operations. Whether it’s preparing vessels for training exercises, assisting with water-based instruction, or troubleshooting technical issues at sea, your expertise will be essential to the success of our marine programmes.

This is a highly practical, student-facing role where your technical knowledge and proactive approach will directly support teaching and learning. You’ll work closely with academic staff to prepare for sessions, deliver demonstrations, and provide guidance that helps students build confidence and competence in a professional marine setting.

The successful candidate will have previous experience in marine engineering or service and repair industries. You should be a good motivator, with excellent inter-personal skills and a keen interest/understanding of student-centred learning.
