Summary
To provide a high-quality, professional reception and administrative service to patients, doctors, and other members of the practice team. The role involves being the first point of contact for patients, providing excellent customer service, managing appointments, and supporting the clinical team with a variety of administrative tasks. Main Responsibilities: Greeting and assisting patients in a courteous and efficient manner. Booking, amending, and cancelling patient appointments using the clinical system. Handling patient queries both face-to-face and over the telephone. Processing repeat prescription requests in line with practice protocol. Managing and actioning tasks assigned by clinicians. Signposting patients appropriately to clinical staff or external services. Registering new patients and maintaining accurate patient records. Handling incoming and outgoing correspondence. Supporting the wider administrative team with general office duties. Safeguarding Responsibilities: All staff have a responsibility to protect and safeguard vulnerable individuals, whether they are children or adults. Medical Receptionists must be familiar with the practice's safeguarding policies and procedures, attend relevant training, and report any concerns promptly to the safeguarding lead or line manager.
