Kitchen Assistant – Hindleap Warren Educational Outdoor Centre
Location: Hindleap Warren, East Sussex
Salary: £26 - 27,000 per annum
Contract: 52-week operation, full-time
Working Pattern: 5 out of 7 days, including regular weekends
Shifts:

  • Early: 7:00am – 3:30pm (30 min unpaid break)

  • Late: 10:30/11:00am – 7:00/7:30pm (30 min unpaid break)

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a dedicated and enthusiastic Kitchen Assistant to join our team at Hindleap Warren Educational Outdoor Centre, a highly respected residential outdoor education facility nestled in the heart of East Sussex.

About the Centre:
Hindleap Warren provides high-quality outdoor learning experiences to children and young people throughout the year. The Centre operates 7 days a week (excluding a short closure period over Christmas), delivering breakfast, lunch, and dinner to residential guests and staff.

We cater for a maximum of 185 people per day, with an average of around 140–150, ensuring an engaging but manageable pace for the kitchen team.



Job Description

As a Kitchen Assistant you will…

  • Assist in the preparation and serving of breakfast, lunch, snacks and dinner according to established menus and recipes.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the front of house areas including organising dishes and utensils.
  • Following proper food handling and storage procedures to ensure food safety and prevent contamination.
  • Monitor inventory levels of food and supplies and notify management of any shortages or discrepancies.
  • Provide friendly and efficient service to students and staff during mealtimes, addressing any concerns or special dietary needs.
  • Participate in training sessions and meeting related to food service procedures, safety protocols, and customer service standards.


Qualifications

  • Ideally have experience working within Education catering
  • Have good Health & Safety knowledge.
  • Flexible with a can-do attitude, customer focused.
  • Fun and enthusiastic
  • Have excellent organization skills.
  • Demonstrate great attention to detail.
  • Be a team player and enjoy succeeding as a team.
  • Possess great customer service skills.
  • Have a flexible approach to work.
